Roofer Program

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies’ Construction Segment provides a
competitive product for commercial or residential Roofing Contractors.
We are not a market for roofers that have been or are currently involved
in new condominium, town home or tract home subdivision projects. (This
does not apply to re-roofs).
Eligibility
Commerical Roofers are acceptable in any of our
active territories subject to:

- Minimum of five years in business
- Payrolls less than $1,000,000
- Projects should be five stories or less
- Apartments with less than 30 units are acceptable
- Minimal Torchdown (minimal defined as less than 10% of gross
receipts & Employee must have CERTA certification.)
- Use of hot tar must be less than 20% of work performed

Residential Roofers are not acceptable in the
metro or suburban areas of Seattle, Portland, Denver, Kansas City,
St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville or Atlanta. Colorado West slope
resort towns such as Aspen, Vail and Breckenridge are also
ineligible.
Residential Roofers in any other BHHC territory
are acceptable subject to:

- Minimum of five years in business
- Payrolls less than $500,000
- No past or current “tract home” work, specifically
we do not want more than fifteen new homes ever in any one
subdivision.
- No past or current new condo or town home projects
- The percentage of subcontracted work must be less than 40%

Coverage Limitations
|
|   |
- Our policy will include exclusions for hot tar kettles on
roofs, Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS), Injury
or Damage in Progress where injury or damage began in a
prior policy, and operations conducted in California,
Nevada, Arizona, Illinois or Florida.
- BHHC does not double the products / completed operations
aggregate limit
- No workers’ compensation coverage; No stand-alone hired or
non-owned auto
- Minimum deductible of $1,000 per claim
- Residential Exclusion applies to new construction of condos,
town homes, & tract homes. (This exclusion does not
apply to apartments.)

Submission Requirements

- Completed and signed ACORD application
- Roofing questionnaire/job list completed and signed by
Insured
- Financials – consisting of both balance sheet and income
statement
- Five years of hard copy loss runs
